Diabetes can affect our feet two ways mainly one is because of deposition of fat and cholesterol inside the blood carrying vessels there is narrowing of blood carry vessels and it results in diminished blood supply. If there is any injury or infection to the feet it takes long time to heal, even a lay man knows in diabetics wound healing is a big problem, that’s why we say if you have diabetes if you do not see your face in the mirror we do not mind but have a look at your feet daily, because there are more than 60, million people with diabetes in India and there are more than 60,000 amputation foot every year in India.
Second problem in diabetic people have in their feet is because of the nerves which sensation for pain, touch, temperature like hot and cold , position and vibration, these nerves become weak and there is decrease or complete loss of sensation for above modalities.
